How does RateRight calculate my rate? +
It uses transparent, client-side math: a market baseline for your discipline is multiplied by your experience band, your client market, and the leverage signals you select (niche skill, enterprise clients, proof, urgency). It returns a Floor / Recommended / Premium band rounded to clean numbers. Nothing leaves your browser — you can read every multiplier in the page source.
Is it really free? +
Yes. The calculator, the dial, the justification, and all three quote scripts are 100% free and run entirely in your browser. Pro is optional and only needs your own GLM key for client-specific AI copy.
Do you store my data or my API key? +
No backend, no signup, no tracking. Your inputs live in the page. In Pro mode your key stays in the browser tab and is sent only to api.z.ai. Close the tab and it's gone.
Aren't these rates too high? +
They're market-grounded for the inputs you give. Most freelancers under-price because they anchor to their old salary instead of the value they create. The Floor is your walk-away minimum; the Recommended is where confident operators quote. If a number feels high, that's usually the signal — not the error.
